Mr. West is married and the father of two children. He resides with his wife and family in Albany, Georgia. Mr. West served in the U.S. Air Force as a Security Specialist providing security for nuclear facilities at Kirkland AFB, New Mexico from 1983 to 1987. While serving, Mr. West received the Air Force Good Conduct Medal and an Air Force Accommodation Medal. Also, in 1987 he was among those selected for Young Outstanding Men of America.
Mr. West worked as an apprentice electrician under the Southwest Georgia Construction Training Council completing the four year electrical apprenticeship while working with J.L. Malone & Associates, Inc. between 1987 and 1990. He trained in and worked on electrical distribution systems, substation construction, manhole and ductbank installation, high voltage switchgear installation, low voltage controls, and pulling/ splicing/terminating high voltage cable up to 69KV.
Edward West obtained his associate degree from Darton College in Albany, Ga. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Construction from Southern College of Technology in Marietta, Georgia in 1994. Also, he was nominated for the Who’s Who Among Students in America and was on the National Dean’s List.
Mr. West is highly skilled in all phases of electrical construction. He is a licensed Master Electrician in Georgia and Alabama. He is well trained in the estimating, planning, scheduling, and managing of construction projects. He is skilled in the use of construction oriented computer software and its application to project management. Mr. West has also passed the National General Contractors Exam and holds an Unrestricted General Contractors License in Georgia, as well as, an Unrestricted Utility Contractors License in Georgia & South Carolina. Mr. West also holds an Unrestricted Electrical Contractors License in Alabama & South Carolina.
Mr. West maintains professional association with the Association of General Contractors, and other professional, academic, and service organizations. Mr. West is a member of the Rotary Club and serves on the City of Albany Electrical Board.
Mr. West has completed the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Construction Quality Management for Contractors training course.
He is also responsible for government security clearances on military and government facilities. He has completed the “Essentials of Industrial SEC Management Crs” through the Army Institute for Professional Development at the U.S. Army Training Support Center. Mr. West has completed the OSHA 10, OSHA 30, Confined Space Training, Fall Protection, Competent Person Excavation Training, and First Aid/CPR.
